Same... I had an account with Merrick that they still owned but had farmed out to a CA. They would not even talk to me about accepting any payment and made me deal with the CA.
Maybe it was a contractual thing but you would think that they would have been financially better off accepting PIF directly rather than accepting a small settlement to a CA where the CA was also getting a cut.
Earlier this year Merrick removed a 30 they reported in May 2018.
I had paid off my balance, but forgot about the $3 fee they charge each month.
That represented the only blemish on that account since it opened in 2015.
I called the Merrick number from one of my credit reports. Representative told me to write a letter. She sounded certain they would remove it with a written request.
Merrick sent me a reply less than two weeks later confirming removal of the delinquency.
Having that reply has helped to remind a certain CRA (rhymes with NeglectTheFacts) it should stop reporting this late payment.

I have been a Fingerhut customer since November of 2014. and during that time, I have enjoyed my experience with Fingerhut greatly. In November of 2020 my checking account was compromised via a foreign ACH withdrawal, and had to be CLOSED to prevent any additional unauthorized access. New Accounts had to be created, Checks printed, Debit Cards issued and Bill Payment Services had to be setup and reauthorized.
The above activities adversely impacted my ability to pay on time. As you can see, I have had PERFECT Payment History, and payments have since posted to my account on time ever since.
I am requesting a one-time courtesy reversal of the Late Payment notice on my Credit Report.
I sincerely hope Fingerhut believes in their customers and I humbly request your consideration. I appreciate your time and hope for a gesture of goodwill and to continue doing business with Fingerhut. Please note that this is not a dispute of the validity of the late payment, or debt that is owed.
