faxing responses to pfd

hello everyone

I am writing PFD / settlement letters for many of the accounts I have in collections. I will be sending these letters certified mail. Instead of waiting for their letter back--in the mail has anyone had them fax their response? Does a fax constitute as a  legal binding document? Can i even consider faxing the original PFD? Anyone had experience with this?

thanks,
