I disputed a collection account from a furniture place in 2007 for $140. My stepfather was supposed to have "taken care" of the account when I moved, so much for that. Anyway, it came back and tanked my scores and I didn't know why at first until I looked at the scorewatch and it said my most recent missed payment was 2 months ago? What? I haven't missed a payment to anything in over a year. The furniture account was updated to show I was 120 days late 43 times, including September 2012....I am beyond confused?
This was an installment loan from 2007-8 for $2400 and my lousy family couldn't cover the $90 they told me they had covered. It seems this place is reporting in house and hasn't sold it to any collections. PFD? It will probably hurt AAoA because it's so old on my young credit history but I was NOT late 2 months ago on anything. Why is it saying I missed a payment now? Because of the dispute?
The late is due to the updating of the account. Send the PFD, you'll take a hit on your AAoA if they delete, but it's better than the negative TL on your CR.
I sent a PFD via the contact link on their website and will send another to their listed mailing address. I tried guessing a few of their executive emails with no success. I was wondering why I lost 30 points when this came back validated.
