Sending a current med bill to collection?

I have a hospital bill that I am currently paying on. The last time I talked to the office at the hospital the lady informed me that they were going to send my bill to collection if they didn't receive the full amount soon. Can they do this even though I am paying on it? Rather annoying.

Yes, they can do this. How much do you still owe? Have you been late with your payment schedule, or whatever arrangement you have with the hospital?

I still owe about $1000 and have not been late. Such a bummer when I'm trying to clean up my credit

How often are you paying the hospital and how much?

I pay them usually once to twice a month. My payment amount is $50.00 but I try to send them $100 a month. We are living on one income right now so it makes it harder to get this paid off sooner.

No I didn't sign anything with the hospital.

Well, there's not much you can do unless you come across some money and pay it off right away.
