Definitely give him what he needs: a life-lesson that would save him from many situations like this in the future. It might be tough now, and he might resent you for a bit, but eventually he'll come around and realize what you had to do for him to learn.

What did you decide to do? Is he living with you now?

@Anonymous He lives about 1 1/2 hours from us. He makes more money their  with his skill set than he could make  here.   See my post about him in the garden club.  His health took a sevre turn for the worst yesterday.
