What are some of your old favorite banks that no longer exist because of bank merger/acquisition, and who replaced them?
Mine:
1. Wachovia-->Smells Fargo
2. Washington Mutual-->Chase
I soooo badly miss WAMU.

Michigan National Bank
MBNA America (note they do exist in other countries but sold to Bank of America the US Bank)
First National Bank of Wilmington
WAMU
ADVANTA
I loved Riggs Bank. The total best.

I remember MBNA from the 90's.
I 'second' the wish for Wachovia... I was a big fan before the merger with WF. Now I tolerate them.
The other I wish was still around is AmSouth - it was a regional bank that merged with/into Regions. The new combined organization has few of the positive qualities of either of its predecessors.
"The Power of Yes" proved to to be simply too powerful...
RIP WaMu.
Chevy Chase
One I DON'T miss is Mercantile Bank from St. Louis...when I was a college student at St Louis U, "Mercansteal" was the only bank near campus so we were pretty well stuck with them. They loved to hammer students with fees and LONG holds on checks. They got gobbled up by Firstar, which later spawned US Bank.
Commerce Bank of Beverly Hills....If you know what I'm talking about...you too are likely old!!!
California Federal Bank - CalFed. Bought by Citibank in 2002
