I just recevied this by FedEx. It was heavy for a box of its size. Upon opening it I found a wood pine box like you would get back with cremated human remains. I thought maybe it was a gag gift. So I opened further and it was from Barclays Bank. My new Luxury Card which is replacing my one to expire next month.
What on earth are they thinking to send a card in this burial box? The last time about 4 years ago they sent it in a fancy box that looked like a Rolex Box. Now this? I am sure I am not the only one who was horrified opening it. Did any one else ever see such a thing? This really did upset me and for no reason. If not for the fact it has a ginormous CL I would have closed it. And for this I am paying such a high AF?
Thoughts?
Thanks
Mark

What will they think of next?

If Pinewood Derby and Soap Box Derby merged, would there be a Pine Box Derby?

NICE CARD !!!!!
I still don't get what's wrong with a simple paper envelope. Why waste wood on something like this at all?

The card has generally gone for image over substance. It's not a crazy business model.
Mass-mail "Black Card" invitations but make it sound exclusive, limit the actual perks/credits, collect AFs, and enjoy nice big margins on a smaller customer base...while Amex Platinum gives out $1,000+ SUBs like candy in its battle with CSR.
