Impressive road trip

Part of my daily job duties is to review area crime reports in the Washington DC Metro area. Check out the following entry (private info redacted):

Stolen Auto Arrest 12-10738

9900 Block of xxxxx Square – On June 13 at 3:00 AM the complainant advised that he went to sleep and woke up to find that the keys to his 2004 Ford Explorer to be gone as well as his roommate. The complainant stated he did not give his roommate permission to use his vehicle. On June 16, California Highway Patrol stopped the stolen Ford Explorer and arrested the driver, xxxx 39, of xxxx xxxxxx Square, xxxxx.

Mind you, the vehicle was stolen just miles south from DC. Three days later CHP nabbed her. Going towards LA would mean the fastest route to enter Cali first (I-40). It'll take over 40 hours of non-stop driving. That'll be one heck of a towing bill to bring it back too.

I wonder what was so important that this person just stole their roommate's car and then drove for 40 hours in a 72 hour span.

That's just ridiculous.

I'm more suprised by the fact that an 04 explorer could make the trip to Cali without falling apart.....

Oh... My 2004 Explorer Sport Trac made the trip from CA to MT and lasted another 2.5 yrs before I got tired of the repair bills.  lol

I question why anyone would want go to California at all.  rofl

Not that hard to do... when I drove tractor trailer I had a regular run that went from ATL to LA.  I would make it in 3 1/2 days (had to be legal with DOT hours of service).  But I had my bed only 6 feet behind the steering wheel.

Wow that is quite a trip. I consider any road trip longer than 6 hours to be torture.

I bought a fish tank once from a girl that lived in the same apt complex i lived in way back when. She was selling everything because she and her boyfriend were movin out of state and just wanted to get rid of all the furniture and such rather than move it. Got a great deal on the tank, and lots of others bought most everything they had. Found out the next day, the girl was moving, just not with her b/f and it was all his stuff (they did live together). He was at work while she held the sale. He didnt know that she was moving, and sure didnt know that she was selling all his apartment full of everything. She was long gone before he ever got home from work.
