Metal cards to plastic.

Hey guys, I just bought a new wallet and was wondering if I could have all the metal cards to just be plastic? Its just too thick for my wallet believe it or not lol, I have the csp, altitude go, amazon - chase and amex biz. Could I just request the lenders to send plastic version and if they don't have it in plastic, is there a way to convert from metal to plastic? Thanks!

Excellent point, just keep one physical card for emergencies.

Re: Metal cards to plastic.

@TheBoondocks - some of them have the capability to switch to the plastic version.  I know that CSP used to do so just like JPM Ritz Carlton and Marriott cards did, IME.  Only thing, if you switch to the plastic version and they discontinue the metal version, then you cannot revert back to the metal version (IHG Premier for example).

I would suggest calling each of the issuers to see if that option is available for those particular cards you mentioned.

Right.   Especially for Chase Amazon, which for Amazon is most likely to be used online, and WholeFoods accepts mobile payments.   (Yes, it has some 2% categories, but....!)

Re: Metal cards to plastic.

Now a days every thing is digital like Apple Pay / Google Pay and other things. I have over 30 credit cards. I carry only 2 cards in my wallet.

Re: Metal cards to plastic.

Really, the main purchase type you HAVE to carry a physical card for is sit-down restaurant dining (having to send your phone off to be tapped after a steak dinner... Not happening). Oh, and pay-at-the-pump for gas stations. Everything else, as a generality, you should be able to cover with a digital wallet on a regular basis. Granted, not everywhere takes it, but you can figure out what those exceptions are and plan for them (for example, neither Lowe's not Home Depot take digital wallet near me... But that's ok now that I've switched to buying gift cards from Amazon on-demand with my Amazon Visa.) For me, I'm carrying my AOD, Savor card, and Amex BBP once it arrives. Everything else will be strictly digital wallet.
