My Fico Sins

Not using free money from bank transfer offers.
Not getting a card for the "Sub".
Not taking advantage of the "Float".
 Not chasing higher CL's.
Not chasing new cards for an extra few dollars/month.
Not having a Discover, AmeX, Chase, Navy or BofA card.

Not having a full credit mix, and not getting an SSL
Pay each card off more than once a month.
Not having at least 7 cards.
 Not following "AZEO" every month.
Not panic, when my score changes every month.
Not putting spend on a cards trying to make an issuer happy.

Not having total CL's higher than my income.

I might be the high sinner in the forum.

Should I be thrown out for my sins ?

 Any challengers ?

Not using free money from bank transfer offers.   I do this.
Not getting a card for the "Sub".  I've done this.
Not taking advantage of the "Float". I've done this.
Not chasing higher CL's.  I'm ALWAYS doing this.
Not chasing new cards for an extra few dollars/month.  I know that I've done this at least once.
Not having a Discover, AmeX, Chase, Navy or BofA card.  I've got three Discovers (counting AU), four Amex (counting AU), Three Chase cards, Three Navy cards, and one BofA card.  So?

Not having a full credit mix, and not getting an SSL  I do have a full credit mix, but no SSL.
Pay each card off more than once a month. I pay SOME of mine off multiple times, some are carrying zero percent deals.
Not having at least 7 cards.  I've got quite a few more than seven.
Not following "AZEO" every month.  Me either, but I got very close earlier this year.  (AZE2)  Currently, AZE17 or so.
Not panic, when my score changes every month. Currently not panicing, but I have in the past.
Not putting spend on a cards trying to make an issuer happy.  I don't do this any more, but I have in the past...

Not having total CL's higher than my income.   My individual CLs are nearly six times my income.

I might be the high sinner in the forum.  How so?

Should I be thrown out for my sins ?  Not a bit.

 Any challengers ?

Hmmm.  Not sure which argument that you're chasing here, but I obviously think very differently than you do.

That doesn't mean that you're wrong.  We all do it our own way and do what we believe is best for us.

That answer can be different for all of us.

Too bad this got moved to SmorgasBoard--I'd like to give you 100 kudos!!!  You've hit the nail on the head. Smiley Very Happy

Oh, I'm a challenger! Yep, I calmly watch my scores go up and down by 50+ points without blinking, I pass up 0% BT offers every day, I don't have a 'full credit mix' (no loans whatsoever! Smiley Surprised), etc. I wonder who else is in this club? Smiley Happy

Huh? I must be missing something. How does saying stuff like "Not having a Discover, AmeX, Chase, Navy or BofA card" qualify as a self-congratulatory pat on the back? Self-denigrating, perhaps, but congratulatory?

My guess is because it's a post bucking the most common trends on the forum. It's not self-denigrating if the OP is actually proud that they don't fit the mold.

None of those things has anything to do with being either a "Sinner" ... or a "Saint."   They are all options that our members choose to either do or not to do when managing their credit, but nothing makes them either "right" or "wrong."   I do some of those items and I don't do others, but which-is-which doesn't really matter.   I don't judge my friends on My Fico for which side of those fences they fall.    While the topics might come up sometimes to discuss in terms of pro's or con's, we all have to make our own choices.

Perhaps  a better way to take this discussion is to say why you choose not to do any of those things, @Kforce?  Tell us your philosophy item-by-item on why you avoid them.

I'm confused.

Were you ever on the path for FICO 'Sainthood' (given you've used the terminology "sins"/"sinner")?  Leaving the theological piece out (for the known TOS reasons); I mean, great if you don't fit the mold from what others do (or don't do) on here, but the listed characteristics in it of themselves doesn't make it unique, a model 'FICO' steward, or being right or wrong. At the end of the day, you do you. Everyone doesn't have to fit into some specific mold to shape their own credit or financial journey 🤷‍♂️

Re: My Fico Sins

Paying an inflated prepaid hotel rate on Amex Travel...only to realize that while the property was expensive, it wasn't actually FHR or HC and thus not eligible for the $200 statement credit. I missed a good chance to redeem some Marriott points at a comparable property within walking distance.

Still had a great time.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select
