The Points Guy no longer has comments

Got over to TPG tonight after skipping it for a while. Noticed they stopped allowing reader comments below each article. Have to say it's unfortunately a necessary decision. A large share of the comments were complaining about the articles in some basic, petty ways. I felt compelled to add some positive comments sometimes just because of all the haters.

This is why we can't have nice things. Smiley Happy

Re: The Points Guy no longer has comments

Without being inflammatory, TPG seems too highly motivated by money to be able to state their comments are vitriolic. Their card review articles produce some cut-and-paste features of cards then a common sense dose of "how to use this best."

I personally don't understand why they remove comments, except they don't want people detracting from their SEO results.

TPG has always been a worthless site for me personally it is all about them vs. doctor of credit and the likes is way more in lines where imho most people lean towards.   TPG is all about profit (although nothing wrong with that), it just isn't for me and if that site went away ever i would lose no sleep.

Re: The Points Guy no longer has comments

TPG's Zach Honig is claiming that Amex has just now added POT to Amex Platinum charge cards...as opposed to offering it decades ago.

No wonder they don't like comments. Comments point out errors, and actually reviewing articles and fact-checking them takes time and energy.

I have a side income as an investment writer. I think reader comments are important and I like discussions with them.

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

Re: The Points Guy no longer has comments

CNBC's article also says POT is new to Platinum. Whether that comes from an AMEX press release or TPG I didn't see clarified.

I try to view DoC but find the notes are all over the map, often not relevant to me. I prefer to wait for MyFICO members to add the DoC references to these forums Smiley Happy

TPG advantage is they take some time to expand on a travel or card story.  The personal experiences of the writers often helps frame particular stories. I find that enlightening and useful.

This isn't even newsworthy. That site is awful.

What's wrong with endless shameless product plugs surrounding a thinly-veiled false promise that the little guy who spends next to nothing is still going to fly first class around the world to private islands every year?

Oh, right.
