I am self-employed and do a lot of creative work in various related fields. (Lots of writing, digital art, and so forth.) It's really good to work at home because for the last several years I've also been a caregiver for family members and I still need to stay close to home to keep an eye on family.
I love my work and feel so blessed and fortunate to be able to do what I love. I'm also grateful that I was available to take care of family when they needed me.
I don't have a career yet but I'm on track for one. I'm a full time college student and planning to graduate on Chemical Engineering. I have two part time jobs: Army Reserve and Home Depot. 92A (Automated Logistical Specialist) pretty much a warehouse guy but not really my choice since my recruiter kept on saying "there's no available space" on my choices. I guess that's where most immigrants (I'm an immigrant) go if they get enlisted in the Army since I noticed it in my unit. For the Home Depot, I'm just a cashier. Actually this happened earlier, customer paid $91 with quarters which was fun and at least it killed my time.
DW says I'm the cable guy. No I won't give you free cable, and no I won't install or fix your equipment.
I work in the local cable office doing billing support, sales, and general customer service.
Prior to this I spent 26 years in Retail Management for various big box stores. I much prefer the cable company, better hours, better pay, less stress.
I'm currently working on completing my B.S. in Accounting, but plan to progress into an M.S. and eventually become a CPA.
While going to school, I work for a local credit union. My title varies from place to place...
Banker, Loan Officer, Financial Services Representative, etc. The list goes on. I handle face-to-face interactions, primarily working on consumer loans and new accounts. I do handle disputes and other miscellaneous items as well. I am not in the call center, but I do have to follow-up with some of my applicants every few days to ensure that the loan closes in a reasonable amount of time.
Grand scheme, I enjoy what I am doing. I don't intend for it to be a long-term career... I have been doing it for a little over three years.
School always came easy to me, I never really "struggled" in any subject, as they all came fairly easy with minimal effort... but math has always been my favorite due to the (majority) black/white and yes/no aspect of it.
I manage a small trucking company, used to own my own, it was only 8 trucks but yikes! Like running a daycare at times.
I also sell on eBay & other venues, I'm an actress (not famous, mostly industrial training films) and I'm a caregiver for my mom who moved in with me 6 years ago.
I mostly work from home, on my computer, which is extremely nice and why I'm here a LOT. Multiple tabs & all. LOL
Honestly Pipeguy I thought you were an oil rigger. I think your job might be tougher. LOL
Huge kudos to all you EMTs, Nurses, LEOs and other first responders! Tough job that takes a huge heart!
Love you all.
I wish you all a love filled, peaceful and Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and however you choose to celebrate it.
As my name implies, I'm still a student. I've had two Summers in IT and one in software engineering, and I already accepted an offer for next year with some folks' favorite creditor as a software engineer. (I might need to add a disclaimer in my siggy that I'm not representing them, my views are my own, blah blah blah lol)
Anyone here run a travel agency? I was considering starting one, but was looking for info about the industry.
As little as possible.
And I love it.
Seriously, I'm an IBEW Inside Wireman. Still hold a ticket out of my home local. Been with the same contractor for 12 years now. About 5 years ago I came out of the field and into our safety department. We are a national electrical contractor so I spent 4 years flying out on Monday and flying back home on Thurs or Fri. For the past year I have been on a rather large job site overseeing the safety department here. I expect I'll be here anywhere from 2-5 more years. Its a rather large project. I don't miss all the travel but my SO certainly misses all the frequent flier miles, hotel points, and status that came with it. I think she is enjoying the money more on this job though....
And I absolutely love what I do. If I had to do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing.
