I've actually been involved in multiplayer "first person shooter" games since 1987, when a friend's father created one of the first games destined for the arcade.
These days I try to squeeze in a few hours of Team Fortress 2 each week, which I enjoy for the teamwork. A group of us have been playing together for close to 10 years. I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but I'm ranked #1 in one of the online communities.
I feel the same way about gaming that I do about Jet Skis. When you see (or hear) someone else on a loud Jet Ski, they seem kind of annoying.
But they sure are fun to ride! When I see someone parked in front of a computer for hours, it seems kind of lame and silly. But it's fun to play when you're the one playing!
