Re: CO-Signing for my daughter's student loans

thanks...I tried to call the Sutdent Loan corporation ( which to no surprise of mine is located in India, thanks to the outsourcing of the call center rep jobs), and asked if I could get removed as co-signer; Of course the flunky on the phone (once we could get through the language barrier) refused, saying there was jsut ONE late payment in over 3 years- NO HELP! When I asked for the supervisor (aka Account Manager), she pretended the connection was bad and hung up.

I'm screwed...Sallie MAe will probably tell me the same thing too.

Before calling, i recommend trying to research the info on their website first.  Then you will have "more ammunition" just in case you need it.  Good luck and let us know how it goes.  Will help out any way we can.

Maybe also check out http://loanconsolidation.ed.gov/

Re: CO-Signing for my daughter's student loans

Have you tried contacting any one from Sallie Mae? They aren't always easy to deal with but you have nothing to lose. I do have a website for Sallie Mae that has names of people to contact and phone numbers. Hopefully one of them can help you. If you need the information for the website just send me a PM.

Also has your daughter tried to consolidate the loans in her name yet? If she can consolidate in her name by herself with-out you co-signing that will take the responsibility away from you and once consolidated will show a 0 balance on your reports.

Good Luck
