Disablity Loan Forgiveness

Hi here folks. First post here. Looking for some advice.

My mother took out FAFSA Parent+ loans to pay for my college. About 4 years ago she refinanced them under a bank to get a lower interest rate. She has since become disabled, and is on SSI permanent disability. The sad thing is, she would have been eligible for loan foregiveness through FAFSA based on her disabled status. Does anyone know of a way to get her loans back under FAFSA so that she can apply for loan forgiveness? Is it possible to reverse the payment on the loan or refinance her loan under FAFSA?

I know it is a long shot, but it would be so awesome if she could get her loans forgiven! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Disablity Loan Forgiveness

Unfortunately, no. Once you leave the protection of federal student loans you cannot return.
You might want to look into the loan. It is a possibility that the lender has a program she can benefit from.
I'm sorry that I don't have better news for you. Good luck.
