Potential negative consequences of a GW letter?

Hey All,

I have a small private student loan (financed from the college itself) that's a huge negative still hanging on my CR (the lates should finally drop off in Sept 2009).   There are several 180day lates, but has it been paid in full (several years ago), and never went to collections.

I've read it can be difficult/impossible to GW federal loans, but since this is a private loan, is there any chance of the college helping me out and removing the negatives?
Can anything adverse come of writing a letter?  The lates should come off in a little over a year, and Im thankful for that.  Should I just wait it out?  Can the college 're-age' the negative or anything like that?

Ive copied and pasted the details from the CR, see below.  It's pretty nasty, any chance of a GW?
Thanks a million!

Should all be off by now-
EX should have either zapped these lates or zapped the entire account by now-

Re: Potential negative consequences of a GW letter?

Sorry, forgot to mention the CR is from Nov2007.  I understand the April2001 should be gone since it has hit the 7 year mark, but you think others should be removed by now as well?  The last 180late was Sept 2002, shouldnt it hang on the report until Sept 09?

Woah!!  I rechecked using the link you provided, and now that loan is reported as paid/closed/never late!!  I'm so pumped!
I guess the 7 year rule is variable?  Insane!
