Good afternoon - I've been a member of myFICO for a long time, although I've recently been more diligent with getting my CR corrected as I went through a divorce and during the process, a lot of strange things began to happen with my CR.
I've searched around and can't seem to find an answer -- I have a an old school loan (2005, LRD 2011) that has a 30-day late on it. It's not accurate and I had to do some digging to find that SLX is now part of AES. In the process of writing AES, the account listed on my report is my social security number, followed by 7 additional numbers.
Is this a typical practice? It makes me feel a little unsecure given the rise in identity theft over the past decade.
Should I contact the CRA's directly or AES?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
