June 2015 Check-In Thread

June snuck up on me! 6 months into the year; we're now half-way done with 2015!! How have you done so far this year? This is a great time to really analyze your goals. How far have you come in them? Are your goals reasonable? Did you hit any potholes or speedbumps?  Weathering through this period can be hard, but manageable when you have a good support team. Achieve some milestones, either small or mighty? Change your goals or add new ones? Anything you think is appropriate to add is what we want to hear about.

As a reminder, participation in these monthly check-ins is optional, but encouraged. The goal is to help keep you on track, so feel free to post your progress updates here. This is a no-judge zone; feel free to say what's keeping you up at night or give yourself kudos for having it all together.

Let us know how you're doing. Wishing all the best of luck!

Re: June 2015 Check-In Thread

Happy June!

No major changes in my scores this month, HOWEVER, I did achieve my original goal set on 01.02.2015 of 720 for EX and TU.  If I could just get EQ to move, I'd be a happy gal!  During my May check in, I was just 2 points shy on EX, and they magically appeared later in the month.  Smiley Very Happy  Was gardening for the last few months, as home buying was the goal, however it looks like we'll be holding off for at least 6+ as DH may be relo'ed for work.  I took that opportunity to pop out and reply to an email offer from Southwest for the 50K bonus plus a $100 statement credit after my first transaction.  I fly Southwest at least 6 trips a year, so this card was a no-brainer.  My first Chase card, insta-approved for $12,000 -- my highest limit to date.  Though I was gardening for other reasons, it surely paid off.  No plans to app again anytime soon, as I really enjoy watching my score continue to grow.

Current scores:  EX 720 (+2)  TU 725  (no change) EQ 708 (+1)

Starting Score: EQ 657 TU 627 EX 650 12/2014
Current Score: EQ 747 TU 748 EX 738 3/2017

Re: June 2015 Check-In Thread

I ended up raising my TU goal since I beat it!  I'm holding strong since I re-entered the garden (I know it wasn't that long ago!)  I've been focusing on hitting my spend bonuses on the new cards and paying down UTI.  I will pay off my Gap card in a few days and will sockdrawer it.  The only major balance left is one of my Cap1 QS and I'll have to put that on hold (as in only pay minimum or a little more instead of large payments) because I'm moving.  I got a new job where I'll be making more and once that's steady, I'll be looking for a house to buy!  Must stay the course and keep the eyes on the prize.

Re: June 2015 Check-In Thread

I tried calling to get a GW removal with Honda financial yesterday for the first time, well it was no bueno but the rep was helpful to say the least. I plan on calling everyday and hopefully somebody will give me a yes. I'll also start sending letters too. Does anyone have any luck with late removals from Honda finance? My boo boo was a 90 day and one 30 day, my dad told me he would pay while i was in school and i found out he wasnt paying and I got a call from repo and had to come up with the money over night, which led to payday loans. which is an entirely different story. So the rep told me they could remove the 90 day because i was out for repo. But now im in good standing and this all occured over a year ago. oh and I had a collection that I guess was reissued sent to my report today but my score went up O_o ?...any word on that?

Stayed the course in the garden and enjoyed a19+ point increase on my FICO Scores. It has been a year since a new inquiry has hit the bureaus. Likely keep it cool in June and not loose my standing here on the boards.

Re: June 2015 Check-In Thread

I'm making progress. I wish it was faster, but it's progress nonetheless.

Here's what's going on as we speak:

  • Verizon CO not set to come off until 2020 - PIF updated on EX but still waiting for EQ and TU to update (patience is not my strong suit)
  • Pinnacle CO (from a line a friend had on my account...sigh), PIF - waiting for all 3 to update (frustration...why does it take so long?)
  • FFCC CO (old medical bill), PFD'd already - waiting for all 3 to update (ugggg! they're killing me)

Those are all my CO's. Couldn't get Verizon or Pinnacle to PFD (bastards!), so I finally broke down and did PIF on both. Figured that would be better than leaving them both unpaid, especially since they weren't set to drop for many years.

My other baddies are:

  • Closed DTE (utility) account, 1 60-day late in 2009 and 1 30-day late in 2010 - Not sure if it will help to GW this one?
  • America's Servicing foreclosure, they reported on it since 11/2010, and it's due to drop off 05/2016 - Not sure what, if anything, I can do about this one
  • Santander car loan, had a string (5 total) of 30-day lates and one 60-day late in 2013 (remaining balance is $1804) - Thinking about GW this one, since the account has "paying as agreed" since

Good stuff:

  • OCWEN Loan Servicing mortgage account - hasn't reported since 2006 but shows "pays as agreed" so I'm not complaining
  • Ally Financial auto loan - opened 02/2012
  • NFCU nRewards card ($8 bal/$500 limit) - opened 1/2015
  • Avenue (Comenity) CC ($0/$400) - opened 4/2015
  • Kohls (Capital One) CC ($0/$300) - opened 4/2015
  • Discover CC ($50/$800) - opened 4/2015

I'm a still a work very much in progress as you can see...Smiley Sad

Re: June 2015 Check-In Thread

I Have to put My Scores in the Garden??

I would love the EQ to be 800 but that is the one with Inquiries on it from April.  Does the score gradually go up as the inquiries age month to month or does it wait until 1 year after inquiries age.  Please help. I have 4 inquires for April, 1 for March, and 2 for September.

Starting Score: EXP 716, TU 716, EQ 715 (4/26/15)
June Score: EXP 818, TU 810, EQ 790 Current Score: EXP 803, TU 806, EQ 795

Re: June 2015 Check-In Thread

Payday today, just paid off 2 of my 5 cards, feels great! Scores are continuing to climb about 10+ points at a time.

Goals:

I am trying to get up to a 620+ so that my wife and I can finish getting our FHA Pre-approval on constructing our first home. #1 goal is paying off/ down these cards in lowering the UTIL it should be enough to bounce us back up to 620+ area.

Steps:

Lendor also wants to remove all the disputes on my CR, (a poor attempt back in 2013 at removing some old invalid collection accounts from my CR, turns out CA's dont have to be that accurate on the reporting after all, balances are a little off, account #'s are innaccurate, etc. CRA's said alot of the info meets standards. It did work for removing a few old accounts though) so sending those letters off this week to the CRA's.

Also paid off the 2nd (last) Judgement and found out the first one I had paid over 2 years ago never got updated to paid/ satisfied status, so sending the letters also on these this week to CRA's... hopefully the combination of the status updates to the Judgements and the update of removing the disputes on the old collection accounts wont kill my score too much... we will see by next month's update i'm sure.

Current:

My Capitol One card (#1 of 5) i just went from 79% UTIL down to $0. Wont show on score until 12-14th of this month.

My CreditOne card (#2 of 5) i just went from 53% UTIL down to $0. Wont show on score until 21st - 22nd of this month.

The near future plan:

Send off those letters indicated above to CRA's to correct "clerical issues" on the Reports.

6/19 = Pay off the Citi ccard (#3 of 5), going from 56% down to $0. Should show on scores by 25th - 27th of this month.

7/3 = Pay off the Bruneel (Synchrony) ccard (#4 of 5), going from 43% down to $0. Should show on scores by 15th - 17th of July.

Then its all about chipping away at the Discover ccard (#5 of 5), should be PIF by 10/23/2015.
