Hello everyone! Happy almost 2013 :-)

And with that being said my Fico Fitness challenge will be for the new year, so I'm starting to get things rolling!

My goals for the upcoming year is to qualify for a new house, a newer car, and to continue to rebuild my credit one day at a time..

My current credit situation has improved for the past few months, I have 2 public judgements( Removed) 3 credit cards in collections$300 credit limit each (Jcpenney/Capital One and Continental Finance-all been deleted) Student Loans which are posted as paying as agreed and I'm in deferment since I'm currently in school. 2 Cell phone bills (Sprint has been disputed and deleted). I will be using the letters in the forum to dispute more items on my report as I had someone doing it for me in the past, would like to get a 700/725 credit score across the board, add on two credit cards (Secured with a $500 limit),make payments on time and just build build build on the road to recovery...This forum has been so helpful to me, even when I wasnt a member and just browsing through lol  and I will keep you all posted on my credit score updates!    Smiley Very Happy

What's in my wallet: Barclay Extra Points NFL Card $1000

Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

I met my goals for all but my EQ score, which I think is due for a bump after a few erroneous hard inquiry counts are wiped off of it. So hooray, new goal! For 2013, I want to get all three scores up to the 700 range. I'm out of the bad score lands and into the "average" zone, so I'd like to take steps to move into "good." Smiley Happy

I'd also like to do some more research into whether or not it's worth it to dump some of my less beneficial cards as I start getting ones with larger balances, IE swap out my Capital One secured card for a "real" non secured card, or whether I should keep both for awhile longer. For the first year of my credit repair journey I was just focused on GETTING lines of credit wherever I could so I could work to build a good recent credit history and get the ball rolling on my repair. Now that I'm doing better and have 2+ years of on time payments, I'm finally entering a zone where I can be discerning. Time to do research and make smart decisions!

Re: Take the FICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

This is my first time doing the Fitness Challenge and I am ready!

My current situation:

22 years of age.

1,054$ 2 CC C/O

1 Installment 6,450$ Student Loan, good standing I guess lol says I pay on time but have never paid anything.

Lots of inquiries. So ignorant.

Longest credit 3.5 years

Avg. 2.5 years

My goals:

To get a decent auto loan interest rate

To achieve a 700.

I have the money to pay the CC so I am going to try and PFD and hopefully get the some help on that end. Just applied for BoA Secured card and am waiting on decision.

Starting Score: 527 12/16/2012

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

If I purchase a credit check on the website, is it considered a hard check and will it affect my credit? Thanks!

Checking your own credit report has no effect on your score.

+1  Anytime you check your own credit it will not lower your score nor will it report as a Hard Inquiry on your CR.

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2012!

Hi all - Do we post here for the 2013 thread?

I'm new to the forum, but taking the challenge in 2013. Lay offs wreaked financial havoc b/w 2007-2010 and we spent 2011-2012 just getting a positive cashflow and financial stability. Now it's time to rock n roll with increasing the FICO score to 700's.

Actions steps for 2013:

1. Timely payments throughout 2013 with new auto loan established Nov 2012.

2. Obtain secured credit card with credit union in Spring 2013 with timely payments & less than 10% utilization.

3. Pay for delete 2 large charge-offs currently showing as balance owed w/ recurring late pays or settle in full if only option with creditor.

4. Pay for delete smaller collections items currently showing as balance owed  w/ recurring late pays or settle in full if only option with creditor.
