Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

Hey ALl,

The name is AJ.  I have been on this site before but never really took it seriously.  In fact by the look of my scores you can tell I have never really took credit seriously (My Mistake).  I have always found myself looking through these forums as a non-member to gain alittle insight but always had my own questions.

I am trying to improve my financial situation.  However, I have never had to really use credit or give it a second look.  I dont apply for credit cards and infact have only really had 2 car loans (which I have some questions regarding reporting).  And am only a joint on my wifes CapOne card and Target Credit card.  Both report fine with on time payments.  My issues are I have had a few collections showing on my account from things I never even recall.  I have tried the online disputes but to no avail.  My goal here is to improve my financial outlook, and to start moving in the right direction.

I plan to be pretty active.  So if anyone has any questions for me or is looking for more.  Let me know.

Thanks,

AJ

Hi!  I have done some casual reading on the board in the past 6 months, but now I am ready to get serious.  Hubby and I would like to purchase a home in 2 years so we definitely need to improve our credit scores.

Hi doingmybest,

You need to aim for atleast a minimum of 640-650 FICO to qualify for a mortgage. Not the 610 goal you have mentioned. But given your current score and that you still have another 2 years before you buy, it definitely looks acheivable.

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

Hello all,

My goal for 2013 is fix my horrible credit. I have no idea how I let it get like this.

My current score is 480 (Equifax). I would like to get it at least up to 600 by November or at the end of the year.

i need all the advice I can get. When I look at my credit report is little amounts here and there and alot of inquiries.  How can I remove inquiries?

Thank you everyone and I hoep I can do this with your help! I know is not impossible! Smiley Happy

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

Charlie30 -- the 610 is my goal for 1 Jan.  I figured if I broke the goal down into chunks, it might make it seem more manageable Smiley Happy

Goal for mid 2015 is 720+ and then we will buy a house (we have some saving to do as well).

Thanks for the info!

Re: Take the myFICO Fitness Challenge for 2013!

Question are your inquiries hard or soft inquiries? If they are hard you can write a letter to each company requesting to remove the inqury but make sure you send it certified mail.
