Yes, you read that right. My credit score went down by 1 point because I moved...**bleep**?? I know it's only 1 point, but it's the principal of the matter. Now, we are getting penalized for moving? Man, we can't do nothing nowadays without your credit score taking a hit.
There is no way that happened. FICO scores do not take your address into consideration. A lender would do that when considering a loan, but it does not affect your score. If that was the case my scores would be in the 600's because I am constantly changing addresses for shipping purposes. All those addresses show on my reports yet my scores always increase.
Your scores are at 800. 1 point is a noise adjustment for something in the background, which was not an Alert Trigger like the address update.
My Experian score went down 14 points because of this also. On My Fico, it specifically says "new address detected", with a red down arrow/14. The dashboard also confirms this 14 point drop. It's not fair that the points go down because of a new address. Equifax or Transunion didn't note it all.
myFICO does not update your scores unless something is changed in your specific credit report; change is called a "trigger" in myFICO lingo. TU, EQ and EX have some common triggers but not all. Once a trigger happens for each CRA, myFICO grabs information from that CRA and recalculates/updates your score for that specific CRA. Address change is a trigger. It caused myFICO to go and get current information from EX and calculate/update your score, which resulted in change of score, hence the alert was generated. Alert states the "trigger" that caused myFICO to go and get current information from that specific CRA. Trigger listed for the alert is just that, and may or may not be the cause of score change. Address change is not considered as a scoring factor, however it is a "trigger".

Spot on! Good explanation.
Trigger => get updated data from CRAs => recalculate score using new data => notify customer what triggered the update and associated rescoring.
Address changes are not "data" factors in Fico model credit scoring. Scoring factors are explained elsewhere on MyFico - check your report to see which of those factors has changed as that is what drives score shift.
Side note: Address changes may be used in Home insurance risk model scoring ... but that relates to insurance premiums not lending decisions.
I just had the same thing happen.... Unbelievable. My experian score went down 12 points because my wife and I just got married and we moved. Somenone needs to change this ridiculous reason for lowering someone's score.
Between paying my truck off (lowered my score by 26 points) leaving a $145 dollar balance over one month (bill was paid on time and I have $1000.00 in available credit) which lowered my score another 14 points and now this!!! Aghh!!
Does anyone out there know if there is a formal complaint department for the individuals in charge of determining when and how much your score is lowered?

The the 3 people in this thread that said their score dropped from an address change and 1 person that said their score went up from an address change: None of your scores changed, not even 1 point because of your address changes! rizfico did a nice job of explaining this in Post 5 of this thread, yet for whatever reason his post is being ignored? The 4 of you need to read Post 5 again and if you have any questions by all means go ahead and ask them. All of your scores changed for reasons other than the address change alert that you received.
