Yesterday my...(Experian)
AAoA was 2 yrs 11 months
AoOA was 3 yrs 11 months
AoYRA was 1 yr 10 months
Today my...(Experian)
AAoA was 3 yrs
AoOA was 4 yrs
AoYRA was 1 yr 11 months
I was curious if I would get a couple points on my Fico 8 so when I checked I did get 2 points on Fico 8.
Well alright! It had been stuck on 745 for the last 4 months.
So I decided to check my other scores for the heck of it and BOY! did they go through some changes.
YESTERDAY TODAY
FICO 8 745 747 +2 pts
FICO 2 760 779 +19 pts
FICO AU8 732 734 +2 pts
FICO AU2 727 744 +17 pts
FICO BC8 769 771 +2 pts
FICO BC2 777 796 +19 pts
FICO 3 739 758 +19 pts
Haven't had those types of increases in quite some time since rebuilding.
What a difference a day makes.
And to note that all other variables are exactly the same. The only changes were the AoOA-AAoA-AoYRA.
Can't wait to see how Trans and Equifax React when they upate AoOA-AAoA-AoYRA. (hopefully the same).
Congrats! That's nearly two years with no new accounts, well played !

@NRB525 Definitely wasn't easy. When I first started I opened 8 accounts the 1st year and 4 the 2nd. The "Congrats you are Approved" was a great feeling.
I never pledged to garden officially but I did it unofficially and next month that last inquiry will drop off my Transunion.

I like that strategy of opening many new accounts during your first year of building credit and then gardening. Doing this prevents a major loss in AAoA in the future, and it also protects you from losing your AoOA should you close it down the line. I would advise doing this unless you are planning on getting a mortgage or another big loan that year.

@folks19This way worked good for me. When I started the rebuild my credit scores were barely 500 so I decided to take all my hits at once.
I spreaded my inquiries between the bureaus as much as I could and only did pre-quals to avoid wasted Hps. Out of the 13 accounts I applied for only one was denied. (a pre-appoval I received in the mail that didn't turn out approved).
All my Fico 8s are around 750+ now. Mortgage scores looking pretty good (middle around 760). I may be looking at a mortage latter part of the year so if I do that I will more than likely upgrade to a couple of better prime cards.
I have a box with about 60 or more offers from all the top cards just waiting to be shredded.
@Iusedtolurk I think you are on a good track. I am relatively new to credit (AoOA 2.5 years) and I have opened over 25 accounts. My AAoA is 11 months and it is nearly amune from losing age. If I open a new card, I will lose less than a 1/5 of a month. Imagine someone with 3 cards and 10 years of AAoA, if they open a new card, they just went down from 10 years to 7.5 years, which will lead such a person to put major consideration into opening new accounts. But if I waited 10 years without opening new accounts and then opened a new account, I would fall from 10 years to 9.5 years, taking a hit of no less than half a year.

@folks19LOL Now that's a Great Strategy!
