Credit card paid off but experian score goes down 4 points

Can anybody explain why my score went from 679 to 675after my amazon account was paid to a 0 balance. All my other bills are paid on time.

Re: Credit card paid off but experian score goes down 4 points

If it was your only card with a balance, paying all your cards to $0 will cause a credit score drop.

Is the Experian score an actual FICO score (does it say FICO on it?).

Many of us like leaving a $5 balance to report on the statement of ONE CARD, then paying $5 off after the statement cuts so no interest is charged.

No I have other cards with balances. I'm in the middle of a rebuild. My bankruptcy was discharged march 2016. My scores went from the 400s to the high 600s. All my cards have always had balances on them until I learned about utilization on these forums so I don't understand why with other balances showing on my reports why it went down. The score was an actual fico I received the alert on this site and experian s site

Note that the alert will show you a score and a reason.  The reason has nothing to do with the score change, usually.

What else is going on with your report?  Did any balances INCREASE?  Did you get any CLDs?

Any new inquiries or new accounts posting in the past month?

Double check to make sure your credit limits haven't gone down anywhere.

It's possible you just moved into a higher scorecard/bucket.

What is your AAoA today, and what is your age of oldest account today?

Well to me that doesn't sound like a scorecard/bucket but I could also be wrong.  What's your oldest account (open) on your reports, age-wise?
