Does getting Fico score get reported

Hi I had a mortgage company recently pull my credit and my scores were 480 to low 500's. I since cleared up a couple of items but don't want to pull it all over again. If I order my fico score will it get reported anywhere on my credit report that I had my credit pulled and will it cost any points? Also I submitted my question before selecting to receive email notification of answers - how can I select it after the fact?

Re: Does getting Fico score get reported

All inquiries are recorded in your credit file.  The CRAs retain them for a period of approx two years in the event of any disputes, but purge them therafter as essentially useless data.  That process is totally unregulated.

You will see them if you pull your own CR through the more comprehensive annualcreditreport.com site.

However, certain inquiries, such as a consumer pull of their own CR or an existing creditor internal account review, are coded such that they are not included in credit reports available to others.  FICO does not score these so-called "soft' inquiries, so no one else sees them, and they are not scored.

Inquiries based on a consumer's initiation of a request for new or increased credit are the classis type of inquiry that the system is designed to make available to others.  They are all susceptible to reporting as so-called "hard" inquiries.

Through some mysterious mechanism that is unknown, at least to me, creditors apparently have some discretionary means to code such inquiries in a manner that excludes them from normal CR inclusion.  If they tell you that it will be coded as a "soft" pull, it wont appear in your CR, and thus wont affect FICO scoring.

Re: Does getting Fico score get reported

So in a nutshell, if I order my Fico scores from this website, will it be listed anywhere on my credit report I did so? I am guessing it would at least count as one point since even a 3rd party could pull it this way it's not through the annual free report site but a 3rd party paid site. Will it be listed anywhere and if so I would imagine it would result in at least a one point ding or something....

It will be listed for you to see; however, it won't be available for anyone else to see.  That includes the FICO algorithms: they don't take soft inquiries into account at all as they are not designed to indicate seeking new credit (albeit some lenders will do a soft inquiry for their CLI's, that's not the norm).  In the case of myFico and other services, because you are pulling your report for your use, even through a third party, it will not count against you in any shape, form, or fashion.

RobertEQ's post above is most excellent in detail on this.
