Experian fico 8 score drop - No reason

My Ex fico 8 has been hovering around 795-799 for a while.  There was 17 points drop yesterday for no reason.

No new account / inquiry / util changes.  Only thing changed may be one additional month of credit age...July 1.   I waited a day to figure out there may be additonal info show up, but nothing changed.

EQ and TU scores appear to be staying.   I get these scores from EX member service - dont remember what they call it.

What could be the reason??   Possibly a glitch?  What can I do to remedy this if it was a glitch?

I dont have any plan to get new credit at least another couple of months.  But it just bothers me....

Your utilization didn't change at all? If you have the EX subscription, you can go back and look at your previous reports. I'd look at them side by side so you can see what changes were made.

I think I've found the sacred map that may lead me to this garden everyone keeps talking about.

Something changed, even if you can't see it right now. Comparing side by side should spot it assuming the report updated. If your overall utilization did not change, perhaps the number of revolvers reporting a balance went up or down

You don't mention average account ages.  Did they change?  Did an old closed account get removed?

Re: Experian fico 8 score drop - No reason

There's always a reason, it's just figuring out what it is.

Scores are generated based on report data.  If your score changed, the report data must have changed.

Something like an old account falling off could have caused a reduction in AAoA and/or AoOA for example.

Re: Experian fico 8 score drop - No reason

Okay...wherever I check nothing has been changed and that is the reason I am wondering.

My utilization has always been around 2-3% for years and sometimes there was maybe 1-3 pt change time to time that I understand.  I dont much care about AZero, so the accounts reporting have been 4-6 all the time.

17 points drop is big and again no new acct / no new inquiry / no util changes / nothing dropped off as compared to 6/30 & 7/01.

When there are score changes, I noted score change first and the next day something popped up.  That was the reason I waited a day to figure out what was going on.

Again EQ & TU did not change at all.  This is the problem with Ex only.

Calling Ex wont help anything... so I guess it could be just wait and see??

Have you pulled a paper hard-copy of your real EX report?  Perhaps something changed that isn't being seen by your CMS.
