Strong work!
Hey TT, on the chart you posted with the scatter points, I've got a question for you. Earlier this year your had scores that topped out at 882 with the presence of 1 inquiry. How was it that in 2017 your scores were 1 point less (881 it looks like) for the majority of those months when you had no inquiry present? I'm just wondering what other factor changed during that time that was likely impacting your score 8-10 points or so, thus muting the visible impact of that single inquiry?
It primarily relates to # of cards reporting balances. I don't PIF cards before statements cut. I often had 4 or 5 cards reporting balances. Some months was 2 or 3. One time it was 6 cards and one time it was 1. Since my last inquiry I primarily stay in the 2 to 4 cards reporting range.
For my profile the point spread due to # cards reporting is greater than the difference between one and zero inquiries. Thus, the overlap in scores associated with zero and one inquiry.
I put the cards reporting vs score chart together a year ago to look at impact of cards at both one and zero inquiries. The scatter plot up thread includes AU card in the total. Thus, six cards possible. The below excludes the AU card thus, 5 possible. I now have a lot more data points now at one inquiry but, the below graph is still representative.
@Anonymous wrote:Decided to take a look at all three credit bureaus and check my scores. No change I figured as I seem to have plateaued. Was sitting around 818 to 835 for a couple of years. Age of Accounts 18 years and AAOA 8 years. Shocked me to find the 300 to 850 bell ring! Well what new excitement shall I pursue?
Will add, learning on this MYFICO Board is what helped me find a new credit life after "bottom feeding" for a long time!
That is a very pretty number. Congrats! 😊
Congrats!
Thomas_Thumb checked my VS 03 and find 825 with only a total of twelve years showing as oldest account (this is way off) and my FICO08 Bankard Enhanced is at 853 (no knowledge of what they have for oldest account or AAOA). Do know that my FICO 08 is spot on 100% no errors!
The 3rd party software used by Credit Karma only considers open accounts when calculating AAoA for profiles. The same appears to be true for age of oldest account (AoOA). VantageScore itself considers both open and closed accounts as does Fico. The summary pages can be misleading. Below are some score distributions from Experian data. As an illustration, a 840 Fico 8 score is comparable to a 825 VS3 score from a percentile basis - 98th.
Thomas_Thumb you may have defined my VS3 Score as twelve years is about right on my oldest active accounts. In the past I cleaned out "closed" many accounts due to lack of spend to keep them all active (they went back too my "bottom feeding" days with little or no benefits).
