Why can't you have credit for 5 years..

When I filed in early 90's I had a card within 2 months afterwords...

Because I filed a Chapter 13 which means I make payments every month and pay back part of my debt.  I assume you filed a Chapter 7.

Ah yes I forgot about 13, my lawyer said 7 was best for my

situation at the time...

I would at least get your furmiture debt down to less than 35% utilization

and you will be in the positive credit catagory, of course less than 10% is better..
