Huge difference between Credit Karma and Experian score

Perhaps a more enlightened person can shed light on this discrepency: My Credit Karma TU and Eq scores have been holding steady at 605, while my Fico8 on Exprian's site holds at 683! This seems like a huge gap. I'm currently at 95% util 15,000 total limit (will be down to 45% next month), no bads, 2 inquiries, 18 year oldest reporting...

What gives? Any thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks

Re: Huge difference between Credit Karma and Experian score

Do yourself a favor and always ignore CK scores (AKA FAKO Scores)...they are useless and worthless...you will hear other people say the same thing. My FICO8 scores are mid 700's and CK still says high 600's....I really dont care....no lender or anyone else pulls CK scores to make a decision.

So in other words, you are doing just fine. Smiley Happy

Re: Huge difference between Credit Karma and Experian score

Hi Ruby, welcome to the forums!

Credit Karma does not provide FICO scores, they are of a different scoring model cslled Vantage 3.   Vantage and FICO differ greatly in how they weigh and respond to different aspects of your credit profile.   The majority of lenders use FICO - so while credit karma is great for monitoring and reviewing your reports,  their scores should be ignored.

You can get all three of your FICO scores by signing up for the Experian CreditWorks trial - which is a premium version of the free Experian service you are currently using to get your Experian FICO -  just be sure to cancel before the trial ends.

Re: Huge difference between Credit Karma and Experian score

OP, as the others have touched on, you're comparing apples to oranges... one is a FICO score where the other 2 are VS 3.0 scores.  This would be on par with questioning why a Corvette is faster than a Prius, just to give you a point of reference.  FICO scores are meaningful, where VS 3.0 scores are not since they are rarely used in lender decisions.

Re: Huge difference between Credit Karma and Experian score

As others mentioned CK uses vantage while ex uses fico you can not compare. You mentioned that you have a credit card with 95% utilization. Thats pretty bad,  pay that up and you will see your score shoot up!

Good luck!
