@SouthJamaica wrote:Today my EQ FICO 8 increased by 7 points. It appears to be the result of a 12 month old inquiry dropping off, with the number of inquiries dropping from 3 to 2.
This suggests to me that 3 inquiries is a threshold.
Oops. Today I added an inquiry to EQ, going from 2 to 3 scorable inquiries. I guess that means I'm going to lose 7 points for that. And in the unlikely event that I'm lucky enough to be approved for the account I applied for, I'll probably lose another 26 points for getting knocked off the AOYA > 12 months scorecard. Oh boy.

Keep us posted.
Not to hijack this thread but to add a DP...today I added an inquiry with my latest approval to go from 2 to 3 (scoreable) and lost 5 points on EX (was 767 now 762).

That's not hijacking the thread, that's contributing to it. You added a data point supporting the conclusion that 2 and 3 are each thresholds. And you demonstrated that while 7 points seems to be the penalty for my profile, it's not the penalty for everyone, since your penalty was only 5 points.
Thanks!
Meanwhile, updating my case, the impact of adding a third EQ hard pull hasn't been felt... yet.

Another DP,
I just now added an inquiry to go from 2 to 3. Lost only 3 points. (I'm assuming this is per bureau correct? Not total between all three..)
Before I was EX2,TU2, EQ0, Now EX3, TU2, EQ0.

Sometimes there can be a delay of a month or do before the scoring impact is felt. Yes it's per bureau.

Curious too.. The EX score is directly from Experian's website. ( I have a membership) It seems I get immediate changes (or at least notifications) to changes in my report. I got the Inquiry and a seperate 3 point drop notification within 15 minutes after applying for the card. I'll be watching this next month or so since I'm done with new accounts for at least a little while. (I'll have some utilization changes so it might be hard to tell what causes what..)

Yes, the experian website is the only tool I have to monitor real time changes. Data change and score change on the same day. Makes it much easier to guess the cause of a score change.
