Inquiry Damage to a Clean/Young/Thin File

Here is some data on inquiry changes to a credit file that is just over 2 years old with 2 open revolving accounts and 1 closed SSL on file.

A few days ago I was approved for 2 new cards - AMEX BCE and Discover IT. They both pulled EX, so all the inquiry damage is at one bureau.

Just more confirmation that app'ing before a mortgage is a really bad move - EX 2 went down -26pts! (I have a few years to go for that.)

A note about that EX 8 score drop: Experian provided realtime score change alerts, so the first inq cost -3pts and the second one was -8pts for a total -11pt drop.

Re: Inquiry Damage to a Clean/Young/Thin File

Nice datapoint as always Cassie.

Sadly before this mortgage thing I was going to get down to 0 inquiries in discrete changes from 2 -> 1 -> 0 over the course of April.  Would've been interesting to compare vs yours but meh... and with all the jiggery pokery I probably should do on my finances this year it's not going to be worth a darn for testing anything concretely other than how much more beating can a thicker file take I guess.
