I use the Discover Credit Scorecard to check my FICO now and then, and suddenly my FICO TANKED by over 70 points! Discover uses Transunion, and according to them, I have a new delinquency (which I don't). So I compared it to Credit Karma, and according to them, Transunion hit me for a recent mortgage hard pull which was done almost a full month ago. First off, I'm confused as to why one reporting agency claims it's a delinquent account and secondly why did it take so long and become lowered by so much? The other two agencies are showing maybe a 1-2 point decrease. This is crazy! Any insight? I always read that a mortgage pull wouldn't hurt you too bad but over 70 points out of the blue seems extreme!!

CK should give you some insight on your weekly update whether or not there was something new reported but, their scores are worthless when it comes to applying for anything. It's possible something DROPPED from your CR causing a rebucketing of your scores.
If you're in the mortgage process then I would head over to Experian.com and pull your 3 reports for $1 through their trial and figure out what's actually going on.
Agreed. It was not the hard pull. Something else had to have hit your CR.
I hope it's not a White Rabbit you're chasing.
Good Luck!
Thanks, everyone. Took a look at my CRs yesterday and nothing, I mean nothing has changed. I literally have one derog from Verizon for like $127 that's over a year old. Otherwise, all my other items are in never late status and there's nothing new showing. The Verizon thing was there originally when I checked it a month ago & my scores were higher and the status never updated or changed with the derog. Weird.
One interesting thing: I suddenly got an email from Credit Karma this morning saying "a mortgage lender checked your score on June 29" (yesterday) but it's not showing anywhere. We're working on getting a higher prequal amount so I wonder if my loan officer pulled it one more time so they dipped? It's only showing lower for the TransUnion score. Still baffled!

If you are getting your information from CK or others like CK. They are not reliable. CK is a tool only to look at your credit. Their scoring algorithm is all wonkey. Your best bet is to get an actual credit report and see what that is telling you. Even if your LO "double dipped" it woldn't create a 70pt drop in score. A drog will. Example when I closed on my house I had that reporting new to my credit, then my mortgage was sold 2 more times after that in the next month or 2. Each time I got a 5pt hit. Each time reporting as no longer having a mortgage and then having a new mortgage the next month.
Again CK is good to reference and they are quick to look at. But you still need to verify facts. 70pts is not a HP.
Best of luck!
Thanks again! Yes, I know CK is not really accurate nor what lenders use... but it's odd-I pulled my Transunion and Equifax reports to file a dispute just to see what's showing, and there's literally nothing new on either in terms of reporting. I am baffled. Hoping it'll bounce back soon and it's just a fluke since I scoured the report and see no other issues besides the old Verizon which I can't imagine would suddenly cause the TU score to drop 70 points with no new updates or status.. I guess I just need to wait it out or maybe call them directly this week.
I would personally just sit on it for a little bit. If you're not getting alerts from the other 2 then it's a bit of a fluke and won't matter much because they use the middle score anyway for an approval. Just keep an eye out for any other alarms going off and potentially w/o doing anything to intervene TU will fix itself when things update again.
