Hello Freinds,
Just thought I would start a thread to learn what services we use to monitor our credit scores. I am hoping to learn what works best for most of us.
I currently use:
-- MyFico ScoreWatch
-- MyFico Quarterly Montioring (am I dumb to have both?)
-- Discover Card Monthly Statement
-- I have a Credit Karma account, however I know the data is pretty much worthless
(I have a Cap1 card, but don't think I have seen their credit score yet)
I get EX 08 from PSECU, and TU 08 from Discover.
A lot of the answer depends on how closely you want to monitor scores, and whether you're applying for a mortgage.
If I was in the latter situation, I'd zero in on EQ 04 scores.
I also have found it a good investment to learn enough about scoring that I have less need for frequent score updates, and am less likely to get hit with an unpleasant surprise. For example, I know that a 30-day late showing up will tank my scores by maybe 75-100 points.
Over the past few years, I've just used Credit Karma (obviously not real), paired up with annual credit reports and the occasional score from a lender pull. Really recently I started noticing I could request Capital One credit limit increases with soft pulls and get a score too.
Just opened Discover & Sallie Mae, so that's going to be nice.
Isn't PSECU still on '04?
Scores:
DCU membership: EQ '04
Walmart: TU '08
Scorewatch* (have a promo voucher, don't really think I'd buy it honestly as my report is hugely static but it's nice for testing random things)
Alliant: Vantage 3.0 now I guess though I don't really track it but I have had a VS score used on an underwriting decision for me so guess I'll look at it as a curiousity element
CK: by the same token, they have a VS 2.0 score which I generally don't look at it besides curiosity; the new accounts score and insurance scores are junk
myFICO: usually around the new year I'll pull the trifecta just to see and get the mark on the wall of how I did this year vis a vis Fitness challenge
Data access:
Credit Karma - Transunion
Credit Sesame - Experian
Quizzle - Equifax once every six months (sigh, marketing)
Freebie annual pulls, which I haven't used in a while (nearly 2 years) - saving for when either CK or CS notifies me that my albatross fell off I guess, or maybe I should just regularly do around the 4th of July.
myFICO: mentioned above
I don't really focus on the scores as I know unless I do something silly (or intentional) they aren't going to move much unless I cross over a bucketing boundary and since my derogs are on for a while and I have plenty of tradelines now, I don't think that's likely to happen on a regular basis outside of maybe AAoA changes over time.

For me i have CS,credit.com for experian monitoring and fako scores. I have SW here for EQ fico score and monitoring. Have CK for monitoring, and Discover/walmart for TU 08 fico scores.

PSECU is EX04, afaik. Unless you have some kind of secret deal. Occasionally, I pull an EX08 from myFICO to see how close it is to my PSECU score.

I did a bit of research and it does seem like PSECU is EX 04, based on what people say.
Thanks.

Yes, it is the only place to get an EX 04, and it is tricky for some people to get into this CU, making it a bit of an elite free score.
As for the topic of where I get my FICO scores,
EQ: from scorewatch... i like this service and would still use it even if I got a free EQ score elsewhere
EX: PSECU
TU: Barclays
I also subscribe to MPM / Eliminate ID Theft for $12.95 a month. I keep a log and pull my reports daily, so I can see exactly when each account updates over the course of the month. It allows me to plan more precisely in the event that I want to apply for something new.
Well I have been using Citi's Credit Monitoring for the past 6-7 years. It alerts me of any activity on my report and updates FAKO scores every 30 days. I just past 30 days and can't update. Called to see what it going on, and they have canceled my account! F*ckers. They said they can not re-instate me as they are no longer accepting new applicants... **bleep**??
Now I need to find a new service that is as reliable and accurate as this has been for me. Any suggestions on a similar program??
