I understand that the report starts at date of missed payment and/or date of judgment if taken to court - I was looking to see how the start date may be affected, if at all, if/when a company sells the account to collector.
I have an account that should have already been removed, but the report says it's only been 2 years.
I'm wondering if when the original creditor sells the balance to a collector does the date start over on credit report
OR
if a collector bought 3 of my accounts from different creditors and then took me to court on one of the accounts, can they restart the date on all of them
Thank You!
This happened to me. The DoFD still determines the SOL for reporting. The CA was reporting the account as new every month in hopes of dragging down my credit as much as possible and forcing me to pay to get rid of it. However, the DoFD was still in 2015, so it aged off.
Cyn972, welcome to myFICO family . . . the account date of first delinquency (DoFD) shouldn't change and if the purge date isn't calculated on the DoFD, then I would notify the Credit Reporting Agency (CRA) of the error. I would also advise the collection company of their error in writing and notify them that you may take action to get it corrected. Best wishes in getting the issues resolved.
