Why I Love Equifax

They gone and done it again. While my score did not change my oldest account has dropped from 8 years 10 months down to 7 years 1 month. A car loan not due to drop until September 2010 is now missing from my reports. This is the 5th account Equifax has deleted from my reports well before they were due to drop.

Re: Why I Love Equifax

Actually this is worse than I first thought. They dropped 4 accounts opened between 2000-2001. My AAofA went from 3 years 6 months on May 5th down to 2 years 6 months as of today. These accounts do not drop off my Experian report until late 2010 at the earliest until mid 2012 at the latest. I doubt this is a split file. Strange the score remained the same even with 4 of 7 accounts reporting balances. On the positive side I am now comfortably under 30 total accounts. LOL.

Re: Why I Love Equifax

Talk about a good reason to go back and amend the Fair Credit Reporting Act!

There is currently no provision requiring CRA's to maintain closed accounts for 10 years after closing. In addition, I think it was you that said that EQ will dump an account when the last negative ages off, instead of then maintaining it for the full 10 years past closing. EX will keep them on after the last negative falls off; they should all be doing this.

So how does it feel to be getting younger and younger??

Benjamin Button. Simulator still gives me a range 756-796. At this point the bogus closed child support tradeline is actually benefitting me.

Re: Why I Love Equifax

No split file according to overseas CSR. I will call on Monday to see if I can get my accounts back on my report. They deleted a CapOne that was closed 10/2004. Anyone know if these deletions are computer or human generated?

Re: Why I Love Equifax

What a lovely company. They didn't delete the accounts they were deleted by the OC's. Considering 2 of the credit card companies are defuct that is a neat trick huh? One of the cards was First Consumers a sub prime offering I got out of BK. Suntrust swallowed them. TU had a phone number and the full account number. This young woman I spoke to was very nice she tried to find the account and when she had no luck spoke to a few supervisors. The account was purged a few years ago. Do you think they notified EQ to tell them to delete the account? Not likely. Having 6 of my oldest tradelines deleted 3-5 years early in less than a month is a bit below the belt even for a pos company like EQ. Bottom line after speaking to 2 supervisors in consumer affairs they ain't doin' nuttin'.

Re: Why I Love Equifax

Called all the credit card companies involved. Accounts were purged and they cannot be reported. The supervisor thought it was a strange request. Amazing how little people who work for the CCC and the CRA really know about the game.

Really sorry to hear that.  It's a double edged sword that accounts aren't REQUIRED to report to any CAs...how terrible when they delete old accounts in good standing! Smiley Mad

Thanks. A year or so I can live with but dropping accounts 3-5 years early? I know one day I will pull EQ to find nothing but my open accounts listed.

Re: Why I Love Equifax

I swear that CRA's and the industry as a whole is bias towards the negative.

By that I mean they seem to take quicker action when something is negative then when something positive occurs.

Also, why are "PAID IN FULL" collections just as negative as "negotiated settlements" or "unpaid" collections?  Is my brain so warped that it seems to me there is a difference?
