Why did my credit score go down?

I received a credit card from First Premier Bank,  didn't want it, never used it and promptly return it.  That action caused my score to go down 7 points.  WHY??

Did you acitviate the card? Is it actually showing on you...

Did you acitviate the card? Is it actually showing on your report?  If you never activated it, and it is showing I would have it removed.  Secondly, the actual inquiry could have caused that 7 point drop.

Inquiry + lower average account age.

Inquiry + lower average account age + more recent recently opened account.
