You are on the right track. The score from PSECU is a genuine Experian FICO score. Other than from a lender, it is impossible to get your EX FICO score from any other source. That's why I am jealous. I really don't know the full extent of the business arrangement, but Experian made a deal with PSECU to offer FICO scores through your bank statement.
The scores sold via Experian.com or any of its other related websites (freecreditreport.com, triple advantage, credit expert, credit check total, consumerinfo, and many others ) are not FICO scores. The score you purchased from Experian.com is not a FICO score. As mentioned, you are comparing a real FICO score to a non-FICO score. THe formulas differ. The score ranges differ, etc. Specifically, the score you pulled from Experian.com is either a PLUS score (350-830 I think) or a VantageScore (501 to 990).
Ignore the fake score from Experian.com and focus on the score from PSECU.
DOH! I knew we shouldn't have fallen for that...So this whole time I've been looking at fake scores...great.
We just got the letter from the lender (student loan) and in it they cite Transunion as their source for denying the loan. So I guess I start there for that. Do does TU yet another formula? I can't understand why we'd be denied with a credit score of 722...
Thanks again for your time helping me with this!
Remember, if this is the same 722 score from your 2nd post, then it is a fake score (we call them FAKOs).
I'd start by calling your lender. Ask them what your TU FICO score was at the time of the pull and, this is important, ask what version of FICO score they used. Of course, that's assuming a FICO score was used. Maybe they saw the collection and got spooked?
I mention the version of FICO score used because this website sells a TU98 version of TU FICO score. Most lenders now use a TU04 version of FICO score. Unfortunately, it is impossible to get your TU04 FICO score from any other source except from your lender. In any case, it wouldn't hurt to get your TU FICO score from here and also you may want to pull your TU report from somewhere (minus score...you can get the report for free once a year via annualcreditreport.com) to see what is different, what has changed, etc.
