What happens to FICO score when a single 30 day late is reported as current?  Does your score improve immediately?

Not enough information to answer.  Could be 0 points or could be 100 points, or anywhere in between.  The biggest factor here would be whether or not there are other negative items present on your CR and if so, what their severity and age is.

For example, say you had two accounts in December report you 30 days late.  In January if one were to change the 30 day late to current, you'd likely see a 0 point increase because you'd still have another 30 day late of the same age present on your CR.

On the other hand, if you had a clean CR in November and had a 30 day late report in December and you saw a 100 point drop, if in January that 30 day late was removed you'd expect to see those 100 points come back immediately upon pulling your scores post-clean reporting.

Only had one 30 day late report in Dec; it tanked my EX 49 points, and TU 41 points.  Late payment has been made; with $O balance; other wise clean report since 2012.  In Dec prior to late report EQ 763, TU 768, Ex 801.  Kohls has indicated they would remove the late due to oversight near a natural disaster, hurricane Florence.........we are still recovering

Re: late payment to current credit score

If that was your only late payment and the creditor has agreed to forgive it and report as such, you'll see your scores immediately return to where they were pre-late payment.
