A FAQ forum to save time?

As would be expected, we get a lot of repeat questions here.  A number of our Mods and others have written detailed responses that are buried in other threads (scorecards/buckets/pools/mangos comes to mind, as does the AU/FICO 08).

Maybe we could have a FAQ forum where we have locked threads with the question and the answer.  When appropriate (eg FICO08) they could be unlocked and updated.

Setting this up would give our underworked moderators something to do!    It would also mean we could not bother to answer the questions

Midnight, I love that idea! Even though I've only been here a couple of months, I spend a lot of time searching prior posts to answer someone's question(over and over and over again).

Great  idea in theory, but I'm afraid it won't work.

See, we already have that cleverly titled post, "Frequently Requested Threads" but 99.999% of people prefer to just blurt in and ask their questions.  If they're not patient enough for a FRT post, they're not going to a FAQ forum.  This problem is not confined to these FICO forums.  People naturally assume that their situation is unique. 

I especially like it when a post is titled something original like "help!!!" or "FICO score".

FAQs and FAQ Forums are a natural part of the evolution of online discussion forums. But I agree they often don't work. Still, I think it's a good idea, even if only 2 percent of the population would bother reading them.

Yeah, we want higher pay, better working conditions, more retirement benefits, paid vacation time, and most of all, higher FICO scores.
