Chase Freedom has $11,700 and Chase Marriott Bold has $19,700. I want to lower the amount of cards that I have and I don't use the Chase Marriott Bold...I don't even remember why I applied for it. It does have a high credit limit and 4 years of account history, so I'm not sure if I want to keep it or have the available credit split between the two other Chase cards. The Marriott Silver Elite status is a nice perk for the rare occasion I do use the card or hotel. What is a good credit limit to keep on each card? What was your thought process when you reduced your amount of open credit cards? What's the best way to make the most of the extra cards you don't use and don't plan to use in the future? bold will probably require $5k to stay open if you're not closing it, freedom unlimited (visa sig) and the upcoming CSP will all have $5k minimums for the freedom unlimited and CSP limits, it will depend on your spend and what cards need how much limit for each when you apply for your CSP, there is a chance they will automagically take limit from your bold or freedom unlimited to create the CSP and not grant more credit if I was you, I would first research if the ritz carlton card would be something that is exciting for you, if you product change to the boundless first, they should allow you to then PC to the Ritz card ($10k minimum) afterwards. That's a pretty big ask for a newbie, and it's probably not a fit for you, but you have the opportunity, and it won't be around forever, so it would be a shame not to mention it. If that's not something you care about, I'd apply for CSP, see where limits end up after that and then just do Bold $5k and split the rest evenly or according to spend between the other two cards Thank you for sharing. I didn't think much about the minimum required if I were to keep the Marriott Bold open, so that's a good alternative. Specific / luxury hotels aren't a priority for me. I travel internationally 1-2 times a year to explore and experience the culture. Ideally, Delta / Finnair, direct flight booking, direct hotel booking, priority boarding, Global Entry, and car rental protections would be the priorities for me. The hotels I use are whichever ones are in the center of the areas I want to visit so they're within walking distance. Usually about 3-4 nights each in 3 different cities per trip. The AMEX Gold and Chase Sapphire Preferred would be my two annual fee cards, so not sure if I want to spend on a third one. I don't travel enough to justify having the AMEX Platinum card for the direct hotel booking and Global Entry. I already have the Chase Freedom, so I figured I can get the Chase Sapphire Preferred as a backup to redeem points. I haven't used hotel / flight services from any credit card portal yet because I get nervous something bad will happen using anything but direct booking and having to go through the headaches. That's why direct booking is important to me. While Chase has minimum requirements to open new accounts (as mentioned above it's $5K for the CSP) in many cases they do allow reallocations of limits out of an existing card that would drop the CL to below those thresholds i.e. for example you'd be allowed to reduce the limit on an existing CSP to be below $5K, if that's what you want. I'd suggest however that you consider holding off on limit reallocation or outright limit reduction before applying for the additional card; if you need to recon a denial they will sometimes on their own initiative offer to reallocate limit from an existing card or you can offer to have them do it in order to end up with a successful reconsideration.
