Post Mortgage Application Spree

So, after a year of waiting on my new house to be built, I went on an application spree. Got my mortgage thru US Bank. Closed 4/5 Started applying 4/6 haha. Started with good ole' synchrony bank who has closed all of my accounts with them TWICE in the past which totally dropped my score. Anyway, I was eager to apply before the new mortgage hits my credit. Applied for the Verizon Visa instant approval for $9,500. New home, of course you need a Lowes card, right? Applied there too. Instant approval for $8,000 each time I apply this is usually the amount they give me to start with. Next up, Citi Wayfair (which I regret) after applying it prompted me to call in, I did and was approved for the Mastercard version with a $4,500 limit, I was kind of disappointed, but I will take it. So, I then went to US Bank they originated the mortgage so I was apprehensive as they would be aware I had the mortgage. I've applied with them many times in the past always denied because of too many inquiries. I applied for the US Bank cash plus, went pending per usual for me with US Bank so I was eager for an answer so I called in the next day to check the status; she says it looks like it was denied because you have a lot of inquiries, she then asks if I've been refinancing or anything and I said yes, she says well let me send this to UW for a manual review. I'm expecting the same outcome, however I get an email that it was approved $15,000 this literally made my day! So next was, PSECU I've applied twice before in the past usually a denial, went pending and they wanted a photo of my ID sent that it and they called and said I was approved for the Founders card with a limit of $12,000. Stoked still at this point, they didn't ask for POI or anything. I live in Alabama and we have a bank here called First Horizon I applied went pending also, she called the next day and said she needed a copy of my ID and that I was approved for $39,000 but POI would be needed, but if I didn't want to send I could have $25,000 I decided to take that and run! Next, Alliant I've applied there like twice before for a card and usually declined, however this time instant approval for $15,000.  Crazy of me, but since US Bank had been so great with the mortgage and I've heard once you're in they are good to you so like a week after the cash plus approval I'm like why not. So, I applied for the Altitude GO Visa, went pending I waited a few days and called same thing denied due to inquiries he asked the same question about refinancing I said yes, he said I'll send it back for manual review, got an email a few days later, approved with a $2,000 limit, super surprised! I've been furniture shopping and I knew I'd need new furniture, applied for the Synchrony Furniture Row card, they give an option to request a limit amount, I didn't want high utilization so I asked for $20,000 they countered at $15,000. I'll take it! Ok, that's it I am done now! Just wanted to share my experience with everyone!

There were some denials:

SDFCU- membership denied after sending in my ID and Utility bill. Ok whatever.

Langley- I currently have their cashback card with a $16,000 limit. I applied for another card it was denied.

Unify- Said the credit was great, but too much unsecured credit. Card declined

BCU- membership approved, card declined. They also said the credit was great, but they were worried about my exposure.

Inquiry wise (don't judge me haha): I worked with many banks to make this mortgage happen.

Equifax 65 (last 24 months)

Transunion 49 (last 24 months)

Average age of accounts 4years, 1 month.

Oldest account 10 years, 7 months.

Credit utilization 2%

Payment history 100%

No derogatories

Income just slightly over 100K.

Any questions feel free to ask!

Re: Post Mortgage Application Spree

Should be in approvals will be asked for it to me moved.

Be help for others on inquiries in 6 months, 12 months and 24 months along with scores and other things you might be comfortable with sharing such as DTI, etc.

Congrats on your big application and success spree as sounds like really only one denial with BCU which is kinda surprising as they are pretty generous although UW is always evolving with each FI.

Re: Post Mortgage Application Spree

Congratulations on closing and the approvals! I did something similar in 2021 after closing. I opened 13 new cards in 12 months lol. I had to close a few within the last year (and open a couple more haha) to simplify my setup.
