Lake Michigan Credit Union has a Prime Platinum card that can be as low as 6.25% with no balance transfer fee. Credit lines up to $25,000

And somehow, they have a checking account with 3% APY

Re: APR<8.5% cards?

Lake Michigan is tough. I have a checking account with them but they are very conservative with approving a credit card.

Northwest Community Credit Union offers a Visa as low as 6.25%

Andrews FCU as low as 7.99% limits up to $ 50k

Michigan State FCU offers limits up to $50k and APR as low as 8.9%

Re: APR<8.5% cards?

It's pretty easy to find CUs with low APRs.  For example, SDFCU's best rate is 6.99%, and anyone can join.  I have a CU down the street with a 6.25% rate.

As far as the LMCU 3% checking account goes, it's a reward checking account -- you need to qualify via monthly requirements like 10 debit card transactions.
