Yes, but here we are avoiding categories, because they vary from person to person. But since you brought it up, wouldn't Sallie Mae be better for you?

Yes it could be....only thing is that it's backed by Barclays, which i am trying to avoid at all cost (personal thing).

Hello, I'm currently using my Cap1 Quicksilver for all general spend, is there currently anyone else that offers 1.5% or better? The only ones I've heard of are the Cap1 Venture and Barclay Arrival, but from what I can understand, those are only 2% if redeemed for travel expenses? Thanks
I'd argue that the US Bank Cash Plus is the best. 2% unlimited on one of 3 areas of major spending, plus 5% on other areas. I spend thousands of dollars per year at drugstores. Amazon counts as a bookstore, so I use my it as one of my 5% categories. I also use it to get 5% at restaurants. I'm a pretty big fan.
The Discover Escape is an excellent everyday card. 2 miles per dollar spent, plus easy redemption. It does have an annual fee. But, it serves its purpose.
I'm converting my BofA cash rewards to a travel reards. This is a great option as well.
Maybe NFCU Flagship? 2% of every purchase if you redeem for travel.

The cap on the 5% is the only negative. Re thousands per year at drug stores, surely your BC is better for that? You need to spend a lot with a 2% card!
@Longroad wrote:Without redeeming for travel the Fidelity AMEX is 2% across the board
+1 Some people wont use it because its not "cool" looking but it definatly is best for general spending if you don't plan to use points.

I would argue that Two US Bank Cash+ cards is best
When I don't have any spending requirements to reach, my general, non-bonus spending goes on either my Freedom card (1.1x with a linked checking account) or AmEx SPG. That's because I personally value UR points at ~2 cpp and SPG points at ~3 cpp.
