Capital One Goodwill FINALLY worked!

I sent a goodwill email to the CEO on 1/5 and I received a call on 1/8 from a rep at Capital One. She verified some personal information, then proceeded to ask me the reason of my goodwill. A few years ago I lost my job and had no emergency fund to cover all my expenses. As a result I had 6 lates (30+60+90+120).

The lady was very nice, asked me to wait a few minutes while she reach out to the bureaus; she came back on the line to tell me that it was going to take from 30 to 45 days for the changes to reflect, and that I was going to receive a letter in the mail.

A few things that might have helped me:

1. My accounts with them are at 0 balance and on autopay
2. I mentioned having an emergency fund to prevent something like this from happening again
3. Attached my termination letter to the goodwill email show proof of the cause of the lates
4. I made sure to change the verbiage of each email (had about 8 versions)

I wanted to wait till I received the letter thinking that it was going to take at least 30 days for it to report but this mornig I woke up to an increase of 53 points on my EX Fico 8 . TU changed on CK (7 points - I only paid attention to the change in payment history) so so I'm waiting for both EQ and TU Fico 8 to update.

After two years of goodwill emails (13 emails to be exact) my Experian and Equifax reports are clean! One more thing to fix on TransUnion and all reports will be clean!

@Lostinthegame , congrats! +53 pts is an awesome increase! Those 90d+ lates really do hurt and I am so glad the GW technique worked for you! It is worth the effort to keep try and your perseverance really paid off!
