Thanks for taking the time to read this......
I had a 3 year truck lease thru GMAC financing. My lease was up so I had returned vehicle in early January. I was happy because I actually got some money back. Fast forward til January of this year. I started receiving calls from GMAC telling me that I owed money( 1300$) so I went online to my accountAnd it said zero balance so I thought it was a scam. After a few months I started getting messages from an actual person, So I called them back and they told me I owed money for personal property tax. Even though I only had the truck for approximately two weeks of the year, in missouri, I have to pay the entire year's personal property tax which is such a scam
I called them and set up a payment plan and paid it off. Turns out on my credit report it showed up as a charge-off. I never had any negative marks or anything on my credit report.
I have paid off 3 cars, 1 house, multiple credit cards. Never missed anything. Before this, my credit score was in the high 700s. Now I'm at mid to low 6s. It is just crazy, one thing that I really didn't realize that I had could cause so much damage.
My question...
Is there anything that I can do to try and get my score up or this off? I tried asking them and the guy on the phone acted like there wasn't.
I'd file a CFPB complaint with documentation of $0 balance when you checked, score drop, etc.
Dispute the account at the bureaus and upload a copy of the statement showing you owed nothing.
Wow, what a pain! I used to live in misery, near the river despair. I hated that tax. I went so far as titleing one of my card in another state.
So, they stick the lease holder with the personal property tax, even though you don't own the car? Did you get the tax bill? From who?
