It's been ages since I've been here. A few years back I had worked hard and recovered from the low 500 FICOs all the way up to mid-700s by 2016 yAY! And it was all due to the help here - many, many thanks. Well, 2016 became my own personal Annus Horribilis with a major illness that knocked me on my tucas (hospitalized for 7 months). I ended up basically burning everyone in the process including Amex Optima Oasis ugh.
As it is now, I have Cap1, Merrick, Amex, my credit union ($130 account fees-only: they'll not budge but I'll pay it soon to prevent a new CA), and an associated collection for each of the 3 cards. Each of these all have basically the same DoFD of mid to late 2016 so I'm in the home stretch with the 7 year mark just around the corner. I'm in WA with a SOL of 6 years so I've stopped receiving calls, etc from CAs. I'll be requesting the 6 month and 3-month EEs from TU and EX soon and am super excited about that although I'll have the credit union remaining. My questions:
1) When a credit card baddie is removed will the associated collection also be removed; is the DoFD tied together?
2) Amex Optima (Oasis) - the do they give a second try (3rd)? I orginally defaulted on a Delta Amex Gold. They offered Optima Oasis - I paid the past due, got my new card, and they even backdated the Optima TL to the original Delta Gold date. Has anyone burned Optima then were able to pay that balance off and get *another* Optma / reg account or am I just toast?
3) What type of FICO boost should I expect once the 6 baddies are removed?
Current FAKO (CK) scores are mid to low 600s.
With all baddies dropping off this year I'll be looking good and I'm excited to see the difference once the last collection drops off. I currently am an AU for an Apple card (Goldman Sachs) and my own card with Mission Lane both with perfect history and both are reporting to all 3 CRBs.
Thanks!
PS - out of curiosity I was browsing the Amex site and somehow clicked the log-in button. Chrome did its job and logged me in (ugh!) where I was presented with all my info along with the balance of ~$1700 showing "past due" and a chat message indicating "We need to speak with you about your balance. It is important.". Account status at the top of the page showed "Account Cancelled". I logged out super quick as I don't wish to inadvertantly reset any SOL especially when I'm mere months from the 7 year mark.
I'm thinking once I hit 7 years and this drops from my reports I'll chat them up to see what sort of arrangement I can make to possibly get back into their good graces ... and with a clean report it should help :-)
Anyone have this happen and if so, what was the outcome?

1. Yes, once the account is removed, all associated info is removed with it.
2. You are on their (Amex) black list and will remain there. The quickest way to get off their BL is to pay that $1,700 account in full. They have a long memory so just ignoring it until it falls off you CRs will do nothing.
3. Your scores should improve significantly once all the baddies come off your reports, how significantly is anyone's guess.

Thanks. Good to know about the CA accounts.
Amex: That's what I was considering. I'll wait until everything including the Amex has fallen off then will contact them for payment which I should be able to make in full at that time ... hopefully this would prevent some sort of potential SOL reset.
Fingers crossed to see what I end up with when there are zero baddies I know it'll not be superb due to mix still, it should be much much better.
Thanks again!

Sounds like a solid plan, but just so you're aware, generally making a payment for any amount, at anytime, now, or in the future (until PIF) will reset the SOL.
So, would be best to be prepared to pay it in full when you contact them, that way you'll be done done with it and have it completely in your rear view mirror.
Everything is profile specific but when the last of my major baddies fell off my reports I got a 151 point bump, YEMV but should see a significant bump, wishing you the best of luck.

Really hoping this happens for me lol just got one CO removed and a collection. Two COs and a 60+ to go.
A quick update: reviewing my TU I must have misread the DoFD for Amex. It turns out the 6 month EE would have been at the beginning of this month. Becoming a bit excited I rang TU up to make the request. Ugh, ugh, and uGh.
I spoke with 5 different agents on 5 different phone calls. Each refused to allow a supervisor to assist and indicated it was "illegal" to remove anything prior to the 7 year mark. I gave up.
Then remembering what I have read here ad nauseum I hopped into their website and entered a dispute for "too old". Literally 3 seconds after submitting the request my email jingled with a "dispute resolved" email from TU. Logged and and *binga binga* the Amex TL has been removed. Nice!
So yes, i can attest that if you are within the 6 month window then it will most likely work as described here in the forums ... almost instantly.
I'll be hitting the online system up on 1-March for the remainder of the baddies. Thanks to all!!
Op,
Nice job, congrats, I have tried this myself but I keep getting an error.

Thanks! I got an error and a forever circle three times. Exited the browser, went back in and it worked that time. Dunno. Tech-stuff I suppose.
Today is the 6 month TU EE period for the three I previously mentioned so I did the EE happy-dance over to the computer and submitted my requests. Sat back and watched my e-mail. *silence* Errrrmmm *still waiting* The last time it was an almost instant response with the removal of the Amex TL. I don't think this time will be.
Buttttt I think I may know why it is not: when issuing the dispute, for the reason I selected "Tool old to be on report" previously. On this one, for whatever reason, I selected "Other". I'm wondering if selecting "Too old..." goes through some sort of automation first whereas "Other" goes to a rep/researcher? Looking at posts where people have waited a while it seems all if not most selected "Other" whereas most who were granted an immediate EE selected the "Too old..." option.
