Hate this time of year

Two of my children live out of state . Sent packages out which should have been plenty of time UPS for Seattle and USPS for Tennessee.

Frantically checking the tracking and getting nervous . Every year I say I should do gift cards , but every year I wrapped the gifts and send them off .

End of rant for now . Please everyone say a prayer they make it on time

Re: Hate this time of year

Same yearly on-time delivery challenge sending from PA to CO - plus pile on getting a bday gift to same destination by Dec 23rd. Making the bday feel special & separate from Xmas was always a struggle..decades later getting that same special all the way across country is a whole other level of pain-in-the-*ss. ☺️

Re: Hate this time of year

I had a package that was supposed to be delivered to me in Florida on Thursday (3 days ago).  It's been stuck at USPS in Tennessee from Tuesday afternoon until just this morning (Sunday).  From Tennessee, it usually takes 1 full business day to get to Florida and then 2 more business days to rattle around the the local distribution network.  Won't make it in time for Christmas.

@CreditCuriosity   My package was sent out of Nevada on Dec. 12th.  10 days and still counting here in Florida.  Next year might be a good estimate for your Mom's package.

Re: Hate this time of year

After all said and done, it's just an arbitrary day; it's the thought that matters. Whether the gift arrives a day early or a week late, as long as it arrives its still a gift and will be received the same.

While I agree with your sentiment, in my particular case the package was a gift for a relative visiting from out of town.  It was to be used at a family gathering today and tomorrow.  We had to go out yesterday to purchase a temporary substitute gift (an off the rack item rather than the custom built one that is still moving through the USPS network).  Lesson learned.  I should have just paid for the service locally, but a friend had connections for a 30% discount.  That $85 discount wound up costing me an additional $200 for the replacement.  Plus, I'll have to pay to have the original gift shipped after they get back home.  Smiley Frustrated

I'm done with packing up presents and mailing therm.  I just buy from amazon (or wherever) and have them shipped directly to the recipient.
