Capital One online account

Hello,

I just opened this account and set up the account for online management - is it just me or does it say "system unavailable" when logging in basically 80% of the time?  Is it just me or has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

After reading that, it sounds like the difference between me and some others is that I have my Firefox privacy settings set to delete literally everything (except my browsing history) every time that I close Firefox
(Tools > Options > Private Data > Settings)

On top of that, I've always logged out as soon as I'm done with whatever it is that I was doing at a bank's online website. To those of you at work or at home who aren't logging out, aren't you worried about someone else coming along and being able to visit that bank website and spy on your bank stuff ? Plus, by not deleting those bank cookies, aren't those cookies keeping track of all the websites that you're visiting on a daily basis ? No need for any banks to know where I go or what I read.

Haven't personally experienced any problems .. but I only log in once a month at their site to make a payment .. generally in the late morning or early afternoon on a weekday.

Re: Capital One online account

I've had some funky experiences with their website -- it lets me log in, but then tells me a lot of the menu options are unavailable at the moment.

It's frustrating, but usually back to normal in a few hours.

Re: Capital One online account

I get that a lot.

From your username, I'm guessing you may be getting it for the same (unfathomable) reasons I do. If I log into the site in Safari, next time I try to access it, I get the 'unavailable' message. Shutting Safari down and trying again usually does the trick, as does using Firefox or Camino instead. A couple of times I've had to delete all Capital One cookies and cleared my cache before it'll let me on the site again.

I think, but am not certain, that this happens if I allow my session to time out rather than actually logging out. Either way, I get that stupid white screen with the 'the system is currently unavailable' message. It's not unavailable, it's just crap.

Re: Capital One online account

I get this problem a lot, but it's become moot since I rarely use that card anymore.

Re: Capital One online account

Hi all,

Apparently I need to log off the account in order to avoid the system unavailable error.  Not sure if this is an issue with Safari only but problem solved.  Thanks for all of your help.

Merry Christmas!

I clear history after I visit each individual sensitive site. I'd rather not have my settings to clear everything out automatically.

I check to make sure that this works by occasionally closing out FF entirely and logging back in. Then I check History to see what's in there, and Tabs to make sure that the visit history is gone.
