Capital One and late fee removal/customer service

Hello everyone,

Well i was going to send in a GW letter to C1, but decided to give them a call (1-800-955-7070, they transfered me from there to the person i ended up speaking to) and spoke to a representative.  Needless to say, she was very professional and cooperative.  I have had my account open with them for about 2 years with just that 1 30 day late payment.

After i explained my situation and why it happened, she told me that she could help and did in fact do just that.  Once everything was said and done, she submitted the necessary paperwork to the credit bureaus and she said within 60-90 days, the late payment would be gone from my credit report.

Figured i would pass on my experience, just in case someone else was in the same boat and was wondering if it would work.

Update on Capital One.

I updated my truecredit and my late payments on my Capital One account are all gone on all three credit agencies.  Good on their word and it only took 10 days.  Not too bad.

Re: Capital One and late fee removal/customer service

WOW Robo! Thanks for the advice. I just called Capital One in reference to an account I had that was late twice 30, 60, 90 days, and once 120 days but not charged off. it was closed by Cap 1 but I paid it in full. I spoke with 3 different depts and the last rep told me that he couldn't find the account either and that HE would put the dispute in!!! He said since the account was so old( closed in 2001) they probably don't have an records on it!? (I thought they kept their records indefinitely?) Anyway he said it should take about 2 weeks for the dispute to go thru and for the lates to come off of my report! I'll keep you posted!  Thanks again!!!

Bringing this old post to the top due to a few people with Cap One issues.

Saw your comments on the other related thread, very nice.  Thanks for bumping this one as well, DH has some oldies with them that I don't want him to wait to drop naturally so I'll be guiding him thru this route.  Especially helpful, thanks!
