countrywide messed up

Thanks to Countrywide they reported me being late in June of 2007. ( which I was not) I found about it by pulling my credit report. Once I seen the credit report I called them They said it was there fault and changed it.. But wont show up for 60-90 days. I need to refi in the fall and now my score went down 70 points because of THEIR mistake.

Re: countrywide messed up

No, I don't think that is what the problem is.  If you are working with another lender I think they do it on purpose, holding your payment and not posting it until the first or second of the month.  They did that to us back in April when we were trying to refinance which is why we haven't yet because of them.  Are they sending you a letter to confirm what they said?  If so, maybe you can get fax numbers to the CRA's  and submit that paperwork with a letter to them requesting that they update your file.

Re: countrywide messed up

NO SHE DIDNOT SEND ME A LETTER SHE GAVE A CONFIRMATION NUMBER STATING THAT IT WAS CORRECTED. WE ARE AT A ADJ RATE RIGHT NOW SO THEY KNOW WE NEED TO REFI
THATS WAY THEY MOSTLY DID WANT TO CHANGE OUR LATES THAT HAPPENED IN 2006 BECAUSE MY HUSBAND WAS VERY SICK. IAM AT MY WITS END WITH THIS COMPANY. I CALLED MY HOUSE PAYMENT IN FOR JULY AND I AM NOT ON THE ACCOUNT SO THEY WOULD NOT TALK TO ME BUT THEY WOULD TAKE THE PAYMENT. I ASKED HOW MUCH SHE COULDNT TELL ME. SO I ROUNDED IT TO THE NORMAL PAYMENT THINKING THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH. ... WELL COME TO FIND OUT WHEN I CALLED ABOUT THE 30 LATE THAT THEY POSTED ON MY CREDIT REPORT FOR JUNE 2007 (WHICH WAS WRONG) THE LADY TOLD ME THAT WE WERE SHORT 4.83 ON OUR PAYMENT. I SAID YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME.. SO REVERSED MY FIRST PAYMENT AND RE DID FOR THE CORRECT AMOUNT. THIS ALL HAPPENED THE SAME I MADE MY PAYMENT. BUT THE 1ST LADY SHOULD HAVE ALEAST TOLD ME I WOULD BE SHORT. BEFORE ALL THIS HAPPENED MY HUSBAND ADDED ME TO THE ACCOUNT THAT IT WAS OK TO TALK ABOUT THIS ACCOUNT. THANK GOD THEY CAUGHT IT OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN PAST DUE FOR $4.83 .
THIS SOOO CRASY

Hey Wolf, welcome aboard, but do us all a favor and ease off the ALL CAPS. Makes your post a lot easier to read. Thanks. :-)

Wolf:

I understand your anger but don't worry. Even if it takes up to 90 days to report the correction, you can still ask the lender to do a rapid rescore. It might cost a fee but it's well worth it! If I'm somehow misinformed on this, someone please chime in.

Re: countrywide messed up

Wolf... DON'T PANIC.

I just went through the exact same thing, and no, you won't have to wait 30-60-90 days for the corrections to hit your report. Here's what I recommend that you do:

1. Call into the Office of the President for Countrywide and speak with Kimberly at 800-601-2522 ext. 8869. Explain your situation to her and ask her to have a letter typed and faxed or overnighted to you that states they are REMOVING the delinquent payment entry for June 2007.

2. Arrange to get this letter immediately sent to ALL three bureaus. I would use this contact information:

EXPERIAN... overnight a copy of the letter yourself to Lee Lundy, 701 Experian Parkway, Allen, Texas 75013 and be sure to include a short note from yourself explaining that you need this updated to your Experian file immediately. Give him your contact info and he'll probably assign a senio r level manager on your case to call you and verify the info. WARNING: when you get a call back, be prepared... the manager that called me was condescending, rude and somewhat childish, but I held my ground and finally got my stuff updated.

TRANUNION... fax the letter into Dave Wolf at (312) 466-8707 and again include your contact info and he'll probably assign someone to work with you, too. They have been extremely helpful to me and unlike Experian, these are genuinely nice people.

EQUIFAX... this gets a little tricky, depending on where you live. I had to call CSC Credit in Texas and they handled my concerns pesonally. Fax the letter into Ms. Bea Hilton at (281) 878-5088 and again, be sure to send your call back info. And just like TransUnion, I found some of the Equifax/CSC people to be absolutely wonderful.

OK, ya got your work cut out for you. Be firm, be persistent, be clear that this needs to get done quickly, and you'll succeed. Good luck and be sure to let us know how it goes for you!

Re: countrywide messed up

Oh yeh, and the most important lesson from all of this, Wolf...

As soon as you can, get those scores up and refinance ANYWHERE but Countrywide Home Loans or Full Spectrum Lending (a Countrywide company). Dealing with these people just makes ya wanna take a shower and wash off the dirt when you're through. They are, in every sense of the word, just filthy.

Good luck!!!

Re: countrywide messed up

I heard from my ex-hubby's new wife that their loan will jump in the fall so they must be on an ARM, and they also thought their property taxes were in escrow - guess what, they aren't!  So yeah, I feel for them and would definitely NOT, sounds like they do fall into the "sub-prime"

That's awful they are holding the payments though - good grief, why don't people just take your money when you pay it instead of trying to make a new paper trail of "false" information...I went through it with Chase on my auto loan....bad, bad if you ever have a "custom" loan - they always hold the payment until the DAY after they can charge a late fee!

Re: countrywide messed up

CreditHawk,

Thanks for the info to Wolf. I am waiting for my lates from Countrywide to hit my credit reports.  I have the letters from them already about the correction, so best believe they are going in the mail today to the addresses that you just gave and the fax numbers.  Good looking out.  Won't have to pay for rapid rescoring, YAY!!!!
