No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
First see what all they will give you verbally and write it down. Make a list of questions and then you can write the answer down as they answer.
Then, ask for something in writing regarding the account. Such as a copy of the applications, past statements, etc.

Thanks sidewinder. Okay, this leads into a very interesting next question. I'll create a new thread shortly. If anyone else has any suggestions, please keep them coming.
You don't have to admit it yours- just say you were reviewing your credit report and found........
I can definitely appreciate your feelings on this issue but let me be perfectly clear on this point. I have not had any credit cards since late 90s/early 2000. Since college, I have not used credit cards, only debit cards and cash.
It does me no good to try and be deceitful, especially within this forum. I am going to contact the customer service department and report back what I find out.
As a note, I do not believe there is anymore fraudulent activity on any of my reports. I have an active Fraud Alert on the three major credit bureaus.
I have posted this same message with the HSBC thread.
You need to visit the FTC's website and fill out a ID affidavit and you need to go to your local police station and fill out a police report.
The FTC provides sample letters you can send to the creditors and CRA with your ID affidavit and police report.
